On Dec.1, professor Zhao, who is from Nanjing Forest University, came to GCA, NFLS. He told us about Chinese traditional gardens.
There are four types of Chinese traditional gardens. They are royal gardens, temples, private gardens and nature gardens. The earliest garden in China appears in about 110 A.C. Professor Zhao mainly told us about private gardens in Suzhou.
Suzhou is praised as "garden city" since ancient time. Suzhou classical gardens also are artistic gems of Chinese nation. A classical garden of Suzhou is made of the basic elements of water, stones, plants and different kinds of buildings. It is the creation of "urban scenery" .the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Lingering Garden, the Master-of-Nets Garden and the Mountain Villa are the most famous gardens of Chinese private gardens. The composition of the gardens are good designed, including borrowed views, barred views ,opposite views, framed views, the decorative and functional alteration. No matter which angle you look at, there is always a beautiful view. Looking at the scene through the frames makes a pleasing picture. The lotus flowers lie on the water which makes green reflections on the water. A classical garden of Suzhou is the harmony of nature and humans.I was enjoying when professor was showing us the pictures of gardens. I think they are magnificent and I feel proud of these Chinese traditional gardens. They show the wisdom of Chinese people. The classical gardens of Suzhou were designed and built by great masters of different dynasties, employing extraordinary methods and techniques. The gardens are fantastic art works with nature, Chinese history and Chinese culture. . Like shining pearls. They are a brilliant part of Chinese cultural heritage.
